On a red base, luminous yellow lines going in all directions intersect and collide in a state of agitation in which there is full expression of a kind of art that shuns a balanced or peaceful composition of its forms.
This painting by Burri – an artist crucial to the second half of the century, who is dealt with more fully in another tour – is included here to emphasize what has already been said about other artists who emerged at the very end of the 1940s, i.e. the early appearance, although in very different forms, of the informal trend which was to expand internationally.
