Leonardo Dudreville, Paesaggio

Paesaggio

Paesaggio

Occupying the centre of this landscape, slightly towards the right, is a group of houses at the foot of a hill that rises diagonally. The foreground, in which two people appear, expands in the direction of a lake bordered by a mountain. The sky is marked by almost geometrical stripes of clouds that, lit by the sunset, form strange signs.
The work dates from 1921, when Dudreville, following his experience in the avant-garde close to Futurism, had opted definitively in favour of orderly composition and intense representational exactness not lacking, however, in evocative values.
